LIMESTONE — Juanita D. Berube, 91, wife of the late Guy L. Berube Sr., passed away Friday morning February 26, 2016 at a Caribou nursing facility, following an extended period of declining health.
She was born July 18, 1924 in Millinocket, the daughter of Henry and Mildred (McLaughlin) Bell. Juanita attended Caswell and Limestone schools and was a lifelong communicant of the Parish of the Precious Blood, St. Louis Catholic Church, Limestone. She was married to Guy L. Berube on November 16, 1943 and assisted with the war effort during World War II as an employee of the Sikorsky Helicopter Company in Hartford, CT. Mrs. Berube also had been employed at the Loring Air Force Base Dining Hall, Birdseye Inc., later American Kitchen, Caribou, and at the A&P Processing Plant, later Interstate Foods, Fort Fairfield.
Juanita loved playing bingo and was an avid card player, especially “45”. She was also a wonderful cook whose delicious creations including pickles and relishes will be remembered by many. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Berube was predeceased by her daughter, Judy Ann Stoudt on January 17, 2009; her husband, Guy, on August 4, 2009; two brothers, Bernard and Clayton Bell; three sons-in-law, Michael Stoudt, James West Sr. and Ulyesse Bernier.
She is survived by two sons, Guy L. “Terry” Berube Jr. and his wife Christine of Limestone, Patrick Berube of Lisbon Falls; three daughters, Norma Lambrecht and her husband, Earl, of Limestone, Donna Bernier of Caswell, Katherine “Candy” West of Limestone; two sisters, Jeannette Campbell of Limestone, Noni O’Neal of Caswell; ten grandchildren, Vicky Smith of Brewster, NY, Randy Berube of Londonderry, NH, Christy Derrah of Biddeford, Jamie Henderson, Amy Edgecomb, Jim West, all of Limestone, Michelle Day of Savannah, GA, Stacy Shaw of Easton, Ian and Blake Berube, both of Lisbon Falls; 12 great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews. Juanita’s family wishes to express their heartfelt gratitude to the staff of the Caribou Nursing Home and Rehab for the wonderful and compassionate care given to her during her stay.
Friends called Tuesday March 1, 2016 from 7 to 9 p.m. at the Giberson-Dorsey Funeral Home, 144 Main Street, Fort Fairfield. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated Wednesday, March 2, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. at the Parish of the Precious Blood, St. Louis Catholic Church, 100 Main Street, Limestone with Fr. Jean-Paul Labrie celebrant. A time of continued fellowship with refreshments will be held after the Mass in the church reception area. Spring interment will take place at the St. Louis Catholic Cemetery, Limestone.
