CARIBOU – William James “Bill” Anderson died peacefully at home surrounded by family on March 14, 2016. He was the beloved husband of Mary Lee (Bowes) and loving father of three children and their spouses: Curt and Katherine (St. Peter) Anderson of Caribou, Carl and Linda (Quilligan) Anderson of Gallatin, TN, and Christina (Anderson) and Mark Kelleher of Middleboro, MA. He was the proud grandfather known as “Bull” to Kyle Anderson of Caribou, Cameron Anderson of Concord, NH, and Colin, Conor and Cole Kelleher of Middleboro, MA.

He was the son of the late William and Evelyn (Johnston) Anderson, loving brother of Marilyn and the late Raymond Swenson of Caribou, and Judy and the late Frederick Anderson of Spring Hill, TN.
He is survived by a dear sis- ter-in-law, Carol Leggett and her husband, Peter of Gallatin, TN; several nieces and nephews; extended family and dear friends, including Marilyn and David Jennings of Fredericton, NB, and Beth (Jennings) and John Boone and their children, Michael, Margaret and Jack of Presque Isle.
Bill graduated from Caribou High School, attended MCI, the University of Maine and Bryant College. He served in the U.S. Army and made 26 jumps as a paratrooper. He was the owner of Anderson Beverage Company from 1960-1988. He served as President of the Maine Beer and Wine Association for three years. Bill served as President of the Chamber of Commerce and of the Caribou Development Corporation.
He served nine years on the Caribou City Council, three as mayor and served on the Urban Renewal Committee. Bill served as president of the Caribou Country Club, Governor of the St. John Valley Senior Golf Association; he was an active Rotarian and a member of the American Legion for 55 years.
He was an active member of Holy Rosary Church and the Maine Loring Association, serving as President and on the Board of Directors. He enjoyed golfing, hunting par- tridge, fishing and playing cards, most especially, crib- bage. He was an avid Red Sox fan and Duke basketball fan.

Visiting hours will held at Lancaster Morgan Funeral Home on Friday, March 18, from 6 – 8 p.m. at 11 Clover St., Caribou. A Mass of Christian Burial will be cele- brated at the Parish of the Precious Blood Holy Rosary Catholic Church on Saturday, March 19, at 11 a.m. Committal services will be on Monday morning at 9 a.m. at the Maine Veteran’s Cemetery, Caribou.
