CARIBOU — Carole J. Nadeau, 78, wife of the late Kenton Nadeau passed away peacefully April 1, 2016 in Caribou surrounded by her family. She was born in Caribou on April 9, 1937, the daughter of the late Eugene and Francis (Miller) Johnston. Carole was a graduate of Caribou High School and received her degree in nursing from St. Mary’s Hospital in Lewiston. She married Kenton Nadeau on October 26, 1957 and he predeceased her in 2011. Mrs. Nadeau was a lifetime member of the Holy Rosary Catholic Church and was employed as a Registered Nurse at Cary Memorial Hospital, The American Red Cross, as well as Visiting Nurses of Aroostook. Carole loved to knit and her beautiful sweaters can be seen from Maine to California. She was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother to her family.
She is survived by two daughters and sons-in-law, Michele Austin and Scott Gill of Brunswick and Andrea and Glen Hays of Chandler, Arizona; three sons and two daughters-in-law, Jeffrey and Christy Nadeau of San Diego, California, Brian Nadeau of Laurel, Maryland and Bradley and Sara Nadeau of Cornwall, Vermont, two sisters and a brother-in-law; Dolores and Joseph Pelc of N. Chelmsford, Massachusetts and Roberta Small of Brewer; four grandchildren, Nicholas Austin, Danielle Fleig, Ryan Nadeau and Emily Hays; two great-grandchildren, Shawn and Elayna, as well as several nieces and nephews and a special friend, Ruth Cunningham.
Friends called at the Mockler Funeral Home, 24 Reservoir Street, Caribou from 6-8 PM on Sunday. Funeral services were held at 11 a.m., Monday, April 4 from the chapel of the funeral home. Interment will be in the Northern Maine Veterans Cemetery in late spring.
