The programs are held under the National Council for Community and Education Partnerships and paid for by the Gear Up grant. The annual conference is held from July 17-20, 2016 in Washington, D.C., and the capacity-building workshop will be held in New York City from Feb. 5-8, 2017.
Doak also said that there will be a conference held in Texas for about two days in May, and that he would like to attend the events, since expenses are covered by Gear Up.
All RSU 39 board members were supportive of Doak when he announced being selected at the March 30 school board meeting.
“They (Gear Up) are glad I’m attending,” said Doak, “and I think it’s a good thing for Aroostook County to have someone representing them at a national level.”
