LIMESTONE, Maine — The Limestone Board of Selectpeople initiated discussions for the 2017 budget during their March 30, 2016 meeting, and plan on discussing next year’s finances in greater detail during their next meeting tonight in the Limestone Town Office at 6:30 p.m.
Town Manager Fred Ventresco says that last week’s meeting primarily involved going through the budget and that no major decisions were made.
“We’re going to be doing a lot more this Wednesday (April 6),” said Ventresco. “We didn’t make any cuts or any real proclamations during our last meeting, but we did briefly touch on the library and recreation budgets, but nothing was really approved or disapproved.”
The town manager said that the budget talks are “going to be a process for us, with multiple meetings on budget before any final decisions are made.”
“At this point the board is listening to the department heads and myself,” continued Ventresco, “and we will eventually call in the budget committee for joint meetings.”
