LIMESTONE,  Maine — Limestone Community School Senior Alyssa Sinclair was recently given the 2016 Maine Principal’s Award, which recognizes exceptional citizenship and academic success.

The annual statewide recognition is sponsored by the Maine Principals’ Association and dedicated to Horace O. McGowan and Richard W. Tyler, former Maine principals and executive directors of the association.

“Throughout her time at LCS, Alyssa has distinguished herself as an outstanding school citizen and student,” Limestone Principal Susan White wrote in a press release. “Alyssa serves as the president of the National Honor Society, a member of the Student Council, as well as a member of the high school Destination Imagination Team.

“Alyssa is the editor of the yearbook, and has served as class treasurer for the past four years. She is also very active in organizations outside of the school. She is a Girl Scout, attends Upward Bound during the summer, and is involved with Project Graduation. Everyone at LCS appreciates Alyssa’s positive attitude towards school and her work to make LCS a great place to go to school,” White added.

Both Sinclair and Principal White attended an Honors Luncheon at the Spectacular Event Center in Bangor on April 2. In addition, many MPA winners and principals attended the luncheon, which included the presentation of a plaque along with an award of five $1,000 scholarships.
