CARIBOU — Gerard L. Belanger, 98, passed away on April 8, 2016 in Houlton. He was born in Caribou, September 13, 1917, the son of the late Vital & Victoria (Ouellette) Belanger. He married Azilda Banville on October 15, 1940.
Gerard was a very hard worker all of his life, working as a woodman and then in potato farming. In retirement, he enjoyed making wood crafts which included potato trucks, barrels and other crafts. Many of his crafts have traveled all over the world to remind people of their days back on the farm. He enjoyed doing crafts fairs with his daughter Patricia and meeting friends new and old, sharing his talents. He was a devoted and lifelong member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church.
Gerard is survived by daughter, Patricia; sons, Robert, Michael, Gary, Donald and wife, Mary, and daughter-in-law, Carolyn; grandchildren, Tricia Peterson, Anisa & Marya Belanger, Steve Deschaine, Donald Belanger Jr., Laura Nawmann and many nieces and nephews. Gerard was predeceased by his wife, Azilda, and sons, Ronald & Delbert and six siblings. We were blessed to have had such an amazing man in our lives and will miss his warmth, kindness and generosity.
