Bus passenger caught with drug paraphernalia

     CARIBOU, Maine — A local woman has been accused of stealing items from a convenience store here that also serves as a way station for the Cyr Bus line.

     An employee of the Caribou One Stop reported the theft at about 7 a.m. April 16, 2016 and indicated that the suspect had gotten on a departing bus. Caribou police quickly caught up to the bus and arrested a passenger, Veronica Lopez, 25, of Caribou, according to a press release issued April 27 by the Caribou Police Department.

    Officers found in Lopez’s possession items from the store, drug paraphernalia, and a substance that tested positive for heroin, according to the release.

     Lopez was charged with theft, possession of a Schedule W drug, violation of conditions of release and criminal mischief.

     She remained last week at the Aroostook County Jail in Houlton unable to make bail set at $5,000 cash or $25,000 surety. She is scheduled to be arraigned June 9, 2016.
