Recreation center hours

     Hours at the Caribou Wellness and Recreation Center are Monday through Friday from 6 a.m.-6 p.m. The facility is closed Saturdays and Sundays.

ATV safety course

     An ATV safety course will be held May 7, 2016 from 8 a.m.-2 p.m. at the Caribou Wellness and Recreation Center. This Department of Inland Fisheries and Wildlife course covers ATV operation, laws, landowner relations, first aid and other state-mandated subjects. The course is for anyone 10 years of age and older and the fee is $5. Those 16 and under must be accompanied by an adult. Those participating should register in advance and are urged to bring a bag lunch to the course.

Babysitters course

     The Caribou Wellness and Recreation Center will host a babysitters course May 14 from 9 a.m.-3 p.m. for those ages 11-15. Youth planning to babysit will be equipped with the knowledge and skills necessary to safely and responsibly provide care to children and infants. The fee is $35, which includes lunch. Pre-registration is required.

Pitch, Hit and Run

     The Major League Baseball-sponsored program will be held May 15, with registration at 12:30 p.m. and the competition beginning at 1 p.m. Those between the ages of 7 and 14 are eligible and there is no fee. Registration in advance is a must.

Mother-Son Dance

     The annual event is set for Friday, May 6 from 7-9 p.m. at the wellness center. The dance will have a sports theme and the fee is $5 per couple. Music and refreshments will be provided and there will be a photographer on site.

CRX registration

     Registrations are now being accepted for the summer CRX program, which is an outdoor recreation program for youth in grades 5-11. Kayaking, canoeing the Allagash, climbing Mt. Katahdin, backpacking in Baxter State Park and mountain biking are among the programs being offered. Summer program booklets

     The annual summer program booklet can be viewed online at caribourec.org and is also available on the department’s Facebook page. The paper booklets will be also dispersed to the Caribou elementary schools and the middle school in the next few weeks.
