WOODLAND – Rev. Robert Joseph McCarthy, 96, World War II Veteran, went home to be with his Lord and Savior Saturday evening, April 30, 2016.
He was born on May 27, 1919, in Philadelphia, PA, the son of John and Mary (Doughart) McCarthy.

Rev. McCarthy pastored from 1957-2006. His ministry was in the northeast, including New Jersey, Pennsylvania and New York before moving to Maine in 1985. He pastored the Crouseville Advent Christian Church, Perham Baptist Church, Caribou United Baptist Church and Blaine Faith Baptist Chapel. He continued with nursing home ministries until his death.
He is survived by his son, Jack McCarthy and wife, Cindi; daughter, Jill Kalata and husband, Mark, all of Woodland; sons, Joseph John McCarthy and Jesse Ray McCarthy; daughter, Jenna Marie McCarthy; grandchildren: Alan, Jared, Moriah, Jonathan, Micah, Jacqueline and Mercy; and great-grandchildren, Andrew, David, Tristan and Kayden.
In addition to his parents, Robert was predeceased by his wife, Doris May; brothers, John, Sam and Arthur; and sister, Marie.
Friends and family called 1:30 – 3:30 p.m., Thursday, May 5, 2016. at Caribou United Baptist Church, 74 High St., Caribou, where a funeral service was held at 3:30 p.m. with Rev. Mark Carter, officiating. Interment will be held in Houghton, New York later in May.
