CARIBOU: Birdwatching at Caribou Bog on Aroostook Valley Rail trail with Bill Sheehan. Meet at the trail crossing parking lot on the Washburn Road at 7 a.m. Short walk on level ground to birding area.

PRESQUE ISLE: Central Aroostook Chamber of Commerce breakfast, 7 a.m., at Cafe Sorpreso, featuring DHHS Commissioner Mary Mayhew. Reservations required. Cost: $10 for chamber members, $20 for nonmembers.

Thursday, May 19

WASHBURN: Salmon Brook Historical Society potluck supper and business meeting, including election of officers, at 6 p.m. at the Civic Center. All are welcome.

Friday, May 20

LITTLETON: Tourism summit hosted by Aroostook County Tourism, 9 a.m.-12:45 p.m., at the Southern Aroostook Agricultural Museum.

Saturday, May 21

CARIBOU: Display of military artifacts from the Revolutionary War through Desert Storm at the Caribou Historical Center and Museum, 1033 Presque Isle Rd. Open to the public Saturdays 12-4 p.m. All are welcome.

PORTAGE LAKE: “Birdaking” outing — birdwatching and kayaking with Aroostook Birders, sponsored by Caribou Rec. Department, 9 a.m.-3 p.m. Departing from Caribou Rec Center at 9 a.m. Kayaks provided; pre-registration required. Visit aroostookbirders.com.

CARIBOU: Birdwatching with Aroostook Birders at Caribou Utilities District wastewater treatment ponds, Grimes Road, 6:30-8:15 a.m. Meet at Caribou Wellness Center at 6:30; group will travel by van.
