Based at the Caribou branch, Murley will spend the summer in the retail department of Katahdin Trust to absorb significant groundwork and instruction in the world of banking. She is a 2014 graduate of Presque Isle High School and just completed her second year at the University of Southern Maine, where she is studying communication and public relations.

“This a great opportunity for students to not only gain a sense of professionalism that supplements their work in the classroom but also for us to show our younger population that there are quality jobs right here in Aroostook County,” said Jon J. Prescott, president and CEO of Katahdin Trust. “As our workforce demographics change and our company grows, it is important for us to educate and mentor our youth. We look forward to helping young professionals such as Erikka on their path to success.”

Past interns have stated that their experience with Katahdin Trust’s program is what truly set them apart from others who did not have real life business experience. It helps students improve their professional skills, learn about the financial services industry, and build lasting relationships. Katahdin Trust currently employs three interns that have participated in the bank’s previous summer programs. Alyson McGillicuddy works in the retail and operations departments in Houlton. Mark Levasseur and Abigail Moody are both tellers in Bangor.

Katahdin Trust is honored to continue their commitment to economic growth in Aroostook County by supporting and investing in Aroostook Partnership’s initiative called “Opportunities Aroostook” to help create jobs in Aroostook County and grow tomorrow’s workforce.
