Glenice Joy Huston

     LAKELAND, FL & BREWER — Glenice Joy Huston, beloved Wife, Mom, and Nana passed away December 12, 2015 at Lakeland Regional Medical Center, Lakeland, Florida.

     She was born August 21, 1935 in Washburn, ME to Leigh and Annie (Pooler) Nickerson. 

     Glenice graduated from Washburn High School in 1954. After graduating, she was employed by Bell Telephone Company. In 1955, she married the love of her life, Floyd F. Huston. Together, they shared 61 years of marriage. 

     Floyd was inducted into the Army and they spent the next 22 years travelling to military posts around the world and throughout the United States. 

     After their retirement, they returned to Washburn, ME; bought a home; motorhome; and visited all the lower 48 states. In 1996, they moved to Lakeland, FL, and wintered there the rest of her life. In 2000, they bought their home in Brewer, ME; and spent their summer months there. She loved to paint, cook, bowl, sew, knit, and read. 

     Glenice was predeceased by her parents and one brother Norris Nickerson. 

     She is survived by her husband, Retired Sergeant Major Floyd Huston; daughter, Beverly, son-in-law Charles Trottier of Holden, ME; son, Frederick and daughter-in-law, Katherine Huston of Lakeland, FL; son, Douglas Huston, and his friend, Linda of Lakeland, FL; one brother, Steven Nickerson of Fort Fairfield. Her grandchildren, Jennifer Schroeher, Lee-Ann Salley, Amber Santiago, Andrea Kramer, Angela Haines, and Marybeth Huston; and seven great-grandchildren, and a special Aunt, Ruth Duncan. 

     A memorial service will be held on Saturday, June 11, 2016 at 11 a.m. at Northern Maine Veterans’ Cemetery in Caribou with the Reverend Barry Blackstone officiating. Following the service, there will be a reception at the Washburn Trail Runners Snowmobile Club in Washburn, ME. Anyone who wishes to share memories is encouraged to do so. In case of inclement weather, both the service and reception will be held at the Snowmobile Club.
