WORCESTER, Mass. — Ramona I. (Mockler) Dell’Erba, 87, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, June 1, 2016, surrounded by family. Ramona was born in Caribou, ME, on September 24, 1928, daughter of the late James and Naomi (Mockler). After graduating from Caribou High School she worked at New England Telephone Company in Presque Isle. During that time, she met and married the love of her life, Matteo Dell’Erba, moving to Petersburg, VA, for a short time before settling in Worcester, Mass. to raise their family behind.

She leaves her husband and best friend of 67 years, Matteo, two sons; John of Grafton, NH ,and his former wife, Christine, Marty of Shrewsbury, MA and his wife, Cathy, and her daughter, Jacqueline Welch of Uxbridge, MA; six grandchildren, Rachel Stockwell and her husband, Quentin, of Wells, ME, Matthew of Fitchburg, MA, James of Manchester, NH, Christopher and his wife, Francesca, of Worcester, MA, William of Shrewsbury, MA, and Jesse of Grafton, NH; two great-grandchildren, Aidan and Elliot of Wells, ME. She leaves her lifelong friend, the sister she never had, Avis Armstrong, of Bangor, ME. She was predeceased by her son-in-law, Richard Welch.
During Ramona’s life she spent many years active in the Mothers Club at her children’s school and following their school sports activities. She worked as an official during elections at the Union Hill School polling location, enjoying meeting and greeting the voters.
Ramona’s true joy in life was her family; she was the heart and soul and will be deeply missed. She worked tirelessly each and every day to make her home a place where everyone loved to gather. She enjoyed shopping trips with her daughter, traveling, dancing, reading, taking walks and rides, going to the beach, gardening, sewing, feeding and watching the birds, spending time at the Cape, going back to her home in Caribou and hosting Christmas, her favorite holiday, for her family.
Relatives and friends were invited to celebrate Ramona’s life and visit with her family. Calling hours were held on Monday, June 6, from 4–7 p.m. at Mercadante Funeral Home, 370 Plantation Street, Worcester, MA. A service was held at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, June 7 at Mercadante Funeral Home, with a procession to Saint John’s Cemetery in Worcester. In lieu of flowers please make donations in memory of Ramona to the American Cancer Society or Worcester Animal Rescue League.
