The Caribou Parks and Recreation Department will host the second annual Maine Recreation and Parks Association Regional Track and Field Meet on Tuesday, June 28, 2016.
The meet, set to begin at 10 a.m., is for participants ages 7-15 years of age and will be held at the Caribou High School track.
Caribou has hosted a regional track meet for several years when it was under the umbrella of Hershey Track and Field. MRPA took on this similar program a year ago to keep athletes interested in the sport of track and field.
An estimated 300 participants from all over Aroostook County will attend. Communities involved include Houlton, Easton, Mars Hill, Presque Isle, Fort Fairfield, Caribou, Van Buren, Ashland, Washburn, Woodland/New Sweden and Madawaska.
Individuals and relay teams placing in the top four in their events will qualify for the MRPA state meet, which will be held on July 12 at Cameron Stadium in Bangor beginning at 11 a.m.
