Earl “Skip” Bennett

     CARIBOU and WADE  — Earl “Skip” Bennett, 89 passed away June 22, 2016 at Caribou. He was born in Limestone July 12, 1926 the son of the late Harold and Fern (Downing) Bennett.

     Mr. Bennett was a graduate of Caribou High School and served with the US Army during WWII. He was a charter and lifetime member of the Lister Knowlton Post 9389 VFW. Skip owned and operated Bennett’s Texaco in Caribou for many years.  He attended the Crouseville Advent Church.  

     Surviving in addition to his wife, Mildred (Bragg) Bennett of Wade are one son and daughter-in-law, Scott and Christine Bennett of Kenduskeag, two daughters and a son in law, Karen and Reginald Bouchard of Caribou and Peggy Saucier of Presque Isle. A stepson and daughter-in-law, Everett and Susan Merchant of Caribou. Eight grandchildren, ten great-grandchildren, several nieces and nephews. His mother-in-law, Gwen Bragg of Washburn,  a sister-in -law Carolyn Bennett of East Pembroke, N.Y., and numerous-in-laws. Mr. Bennett was predeceased by four brothers and their wives; Gerald and Barbara, Donald and Ruth, Lester and Norma, and Gary Bennett. 

     A celebration of Skip’s life was held 11:00 am Tuesday June 28, 2016 at the Crouseville Advent Church with  Rev. John Walsh, officiating. Interment  with military honors took place  in the Northern Maine Veterans Cemetery.  In lieu of flowers, friends may contribute to Dementia research, Cancer research or the Aroostook Hospice House of Comfort.
