CARIBOU — Rodrique “Dick” Chabre’, 84, passed away June 30, 2016 at his residence in Caribou surrounded by his loving family.

He was born in Grand Isle, April 9, 1932, the son of the late Albert and Madeleine Chabre’. Dad worked for Bartley’s Builders for many years as a foreman until a serious accident in 1967 which left him disabled. Following a lengthy recovery, he pursued his passion for birds, peacock, ducks, sheep, deer, ostrich, and emu and established the Chabre’ Animal Farm. Chabre’ Animal Farm was known throughout Aroostook County and Dad loved to give tours to students and area residents and describe the many animals that called the farm their home.
Dad was an avid hunter, fisherman and trapper. Dad was a longtime member of Holy Rosary and was active as a greeter, Eucharistic minister, and was a member of Family Life. Dad was a member of the Caribou Knights of Columbus and received the honors of the Fourth Degree.
He is survived by his loving wife of fifty-three years, Edwina ‘Debbie’ (Godin) Chabre’. He is also survived by his son, David and lifetime partner, Sonia and her son, Alex; two daughters, Lisa, her husband, Scott and their son, Ethan; Kim and her lifetime partner, Luc and their children, Marcus and Braden, all of Caribou. He is also survived by a special brother, Romeo Chabre’ and his wife, Martha of Bangor. Dad also had many special nephews and nieces.
Friends and family called at the Mockler Funeral Home, 24 Reservoir Street, Caribou from 6 p.m. – 8 p.m., Friday, July 1st and from 9 a.m. on Saturday, July 2nd until time of services. A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated at 11 a.m from the Parish of the Precious Blood Holy Rosary Catholic Church in Caribou. The family would like to thank his longtime doctor and friend, Dr. Carl Flynn and the hospice team at the end of his life, Ruth and Margaret.
