The Loring Job Corps Center recently recognized its longtime employees. Staff who have served at the center for 20 years are, from left, front row, Richard Roy, Herman Gaskins, Joe Pinette, Leo Labbe and Bab Cote. In back are Center Director Kristie Moir and student government leaders Genesis Hart, Daniel White, Corinthian Dockery, Brandon Carter and Tiffany Stewart.
The group received longevity awards and a standing ovation by the entire center. Center Director Kristie Moir led the presentation and also provided some insight into how the dedication and commitment of staff such as these five have made an impact on every student who has ever walked through the center’s doors.
“During the past 20 years, the center has maintained a tremendous success record by educating and training, along with our current number in attendance, over 10,000 students,” said Moir.
The Job Corps at Loring first became a center on Aug. 17, 1996, and began to enroll its first class of students shortly thereafter. Once the doors officially opened the results came fast, resulting in the center celebrating its first graduating class in the fall of 1997.
“A lot has changed over the past 20 years,” Moir said. “However, one thing will always remain, in that the Center and its staff remain dedicated to educating and training the workforce of today and the future.”
The center honored longtime staff members Richard Roy, Herman Gaskins, Joe Pinette, Leo Labbe and Bab Cote.
