Session of late-summer swimming classes offered

     Beginning July 25 and through Aug. 5, 2016 the Presque Isle Recreation Center will be taking pre-paid registrations for the Aug. 8-Sept. 17 session. Lessons will be held at Gentile Hall at the University of Maine Presque Isle and there are openings in the following classes:

     Parent/Toddler (6 months to 3 years), which requires an adult to be in the water, has spaces available: Tuesday, 9-9:25 a.m.; Thursday, 6-6:25 p.m. or Saturday, 9-9:25 a.m.

     PRE 1-Ages 3-5, for those not comfortable in the water, has openings: Tuesday, 5-5:25 p.m. or Friday, 9-9:25 a.m.

     PRE 2-Ages 3-5, for those comfortable in the water, has openings: Monday, 10-10:25 a.m.; Tuesday, 9:30-9:55 a.m. and 5:30-5:55 p.m.; Wednesday, 9-9:25 a.m.; 3-3:25 p.m.; and 4:30-4:55 p.m.; Thursday, 6:30-6:55 p.m.; Friday, 9:30-9:55 a.m. or Saturday, 9:30-9:55 a.m.

     PRE 3-Ages 3-5, swimming, has openings: Tuesday 4:30-4:55 p.m.; Wednesday 9:30-9:55 a.m. and 3:30-3:55 p.m. or Saturday, 9-9:25 a.m.

     Learn to Swim 1 is for children 6-12 years old. See Learn to Swim 2 for lesson availability.

     Learn to Swim 2 is for the beginner who is comfortable in the water but not swimming. This level has openings Tuesday, 5-5:50 p.m.; Thursday, 5-5:50 p.m. or Saturday, 10-10:50 a.m.

     Learn to Swim 3-4 has the following openings: Tuesday, 4-4:50 p.m.; Wednesday, 5-5:50 p.m. or Saturday, 9:30-10:20 a.m.

     Learn to Swim 5-6 has openings: Wednesday, 10-10:50 a.m. and 6-6:50 p.m. or Saturday, 10:30-11:20 a.m.

     Adapted lessons for children with autism requires an adult in the water. There are openings Tuesday, 3-3:50 p.m.

     Adult lessons are for ages 12 and up and lessons will be geared to ability. Class openings are Tuesday, 6-6:50 p.m.

     Shallow Water Exercise classes are held Tuesday, Thursday and Friday from 10-10:50 a.m. and Deep Water Exercise classes are held Wednesday, 4-4:50 p.m. Costs vary depending on the number of classes pre-registered for.
