Rec center hours

     The Caribou Wellness and Recreation Center hours are Monday through Friday from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. The facility is closed Saturdays and Sundays.

Trips planned

     Adults 18 year of age and older are eligible to participate in the following trips: Allagash Wilderness Waterway Aug. 20 and 21, with a fee of $75 which covers gear, transportation and meals; a kayaking outing Aug. 27, 2016 with a fee of $10 which covers transportation, use of a kayak, PDFs and paddles; and Kings Landing Aug. 30, with a fee of $50 that includes a $20 meal voucher and transportation.

     Youth in grades 5-11 have the following options: a North Maine Woods two-night fly fishing outing Sept. 16-18, with participants fishing from canoes and required to have their own fishing equipment for a fee of $120; and a Chimney Pond climbing trip and Mt. Katahdin fall summit, which runs Oct. 6-8 and requires a fee of $75.

     The Take It Outside Adult Series will be offering a trip to the Grand Fall Gorge/riverboat launch on the St. John River Sept. 1, one to the Porter Experimental Seed Farm and Irving Stud Mill Sept. 6, SunEdison Wind windmill tour and Pineland Farms Sept. 13 and Red River Camps Sept. 20.
