AR George Kimball
George L. Kimball

He was born February 20, 1931 in Brushton, NY, the son of the late Samuel and Gladys (Bellows) Kimball. George attended St. Regis Falls Central School in New York. For a short period of time after school, George worked for Ingersoal-Rand Corp and Bethlehem Steel. In 1951, he enlisted in the United States Air Force, and served with the Military Police during the Korean War. In 1961, George left the military to work for Bechtel Corp as an engineer on a missile site at Cape Canaveral, now known as Cape Kennedy. In 1971, George purchased a small travel trailer park in Zephyrhills, FL and continued to work for Reedy Creek Development.  Reedy Creek was a major developer of Walt Disney World. In 1974, George went to work for Suburban Propane in Zephyrhills. In 1976, George decided to convert to the Catholic faith and was very much involved in the Catholic church and was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Zephyrhills, where he was a Lector and involved with the local Catholic radio station.

In 1979, George joined the Naval Reserves as a Seabee. George met his wife Bertha Ouellette while he was stationed at Loring Air Force Base, and they were married in May of 1955. George and Bertha were blessed with 53 years of marriage and she predeceased him in January of 2008. During his life and after retirement, he and his family travelled to Maine in the summers and back to Florida in the winter. In August of 2008 he met Shirley Dubay, and they were married in Caribou. For six years they spent winters together in Zephyrhills and then in 2015 they moved to their “little dream house” in Davenport, FL. Shirley and George were married for eight years, but even in that short time they did more things together than some people do in a lifetime.
