Fitzherbert’s Team rallies to capture summer basketball title

The Caribou Parks and Recreation Department’s summer basketball league wrapped up Aug. 15, 2016 with a very close championship game.

Savage’s Team was up at the half, but Fitzherbert’s Team crawled back into it during the second half of the game. Savage’s Team struggled with shot selection for most of the half, but Donovan Savage nailed a three-pointer to make it a two-point game.

Matt Till hit a clutch three for Fitzherbert’s Team to keep them ahead. The last few minutes of the game, Savage’s Team had to foul to put their opponents on the line and then Dayne Savage got hot with the three ball by knocking down a few with defenders in his face.

With Savage’s Team down by one, Dayne Savage attempted a buzzer-beater and connected on the shot,, but the ball left his hand just a second too late and Fitzherbert’s team walked away with the 58-57 victory.

Regular season standings from the summer season saw Savage’s Team in first, Fitzherbert’s Team in second, Holdsworth’s Team in third and Hafford’s Team in fourth.
