Boosters club fundraiser

     Lincoln Motor Company, along with Griffeth Lincoln, will donate $20 to the Caribou High School Athletic Boosters for every household which test drives a Lincoln vehicle during an event set for Saturday, Sept. 24 at the Caribou High School parking lot from 10 a.m.-4 p.m.

     People will also have a chance to test drive a bonus vehicle – a 2017 Lincoln MKZ – where Lincoln will donate an additional $20 per household.

Officiating class

     Basketball officiating school, hosted by the International Association of Approved Basketball Officials Board No. 150, will begin Tuesday, Sept. 27 at Presque Isle High School.

     The class will be held from 7-9 p.m. and the cost is $40. For more information on the class and the specific location, contact Harry Orser at 425-4451 or go online to iaabo150.org.

CMS soccer team wins 3 of 4

     The Caribou Middle School boys’ soccer team defeated Ashland, Presque Isle White and Madawaska, while falling to Fort Kent in recent action.

     On Sept. 12, Dan Ochendu scored two goals, while Ari Plante, Ethan Holdsworth and P.J. Thornton added one each in a 5-0 shutout over Ashland. Five different players had assists.

     Holdsworth had a hand in all the goals during Friday’s 6-2 victory over PI White. Holdsworth scored four times and assisted on goals by Sawyer Deprey and Carter Belanger.

     Caribou topped Madawaska Saturday, 4-1, with Holdsworth netting a pair of goals and picking up an assist. Logan Cheplic and Uchendu were the other goal scorers for the Vikings.

     The loss to Fort Kent came last Wednesday and was by a score of 4-3. Belanger, Holdsworth and Miles Collier had the goals for Caribou, which led 3-1 before the Warriors mounted their comeback.

     Coach Steve Perreault said Alden Wilcox, Elliot Sleeper, Alex Levesque, Devin Wright, Carter Quist, Dakota Yakel and goalie Cory Herbert were other solid contributors during the past week.

Goughan Farm Adventure

     On Tuesday, Oct. 4, the Fort Fairfield Parks and Recreation Department is conducting a youth field trip to the Goughan Farm for a fun day of activity and adventure. The trip includes transportation to and from the farm, a group hay ride, exploration of the corn maze, homemade ice cream and a take-home pumpkin, all for just $6 per person. For an additional $2.50, participants can play nine holes of mini golf, or for an extra $5 participants can play the entire 18-hole course before leaving the farm, or play nine holes for $2.50. The bus will depart from the community center at noon and return at approximately 3:30 p.m. Participants must be at least 10 years of age or be accompanied by a responsible chaperone.

Fall foliage luncheon

     There will be a fall foliage luncheon excursion to the Lakeview Restaurant in St. Agatha on Thursday, Oct. 6 for all senior citizens and their guests, offered through the Fort Fairfield Parks and Recreation Department.

     The tour bus will depart from the Knights of Columbus Hall in Fort Fairfield at 10 a.m. and will return at approximately 2:30 p.m. There is no charge for the bus transportation but all participants are responsible for the cost of their own lunch.
