CARIBOU — Marie A. Staples, 77, died unexpectedly September 17, 2016 at her Caribou residence.

She was born in Caribou, September 13, 1939, the daughter of the late Paul and Marie (Ouellette) Staples.
Marie attended the Holy Rosary Grammar School, and was a graduate of Marie Joseph Academy. Marie was employed by several area agencies and businesses over the years, including the Presque Isle Air Force Base, the Department of Public Assistance Office in Caribou, the Loring Air Force Base Hospital, the Caribou Post Office, and more recently, Cary Medical Center.
Marie was a lifetime member of the Holy Rosary Catholic Church, and was also a member of the National Active and Retired Federal Employees Association. Following her retirement, Marie spent countless hours helping and transporting friends to various appointments around the state.
She is survived by her brother, Kermit Staples of Connor; nieces and nephews, Craig Staples and wife, Annette, Kerry Staples and wife, Sue, Denna Wilson and husband, Jim, Kevin Staples, Robin and her wife, Lisa, Dean Staples and wife, Donna, Shawn Staples and wife, Rhonda, Scott Staples and wife, Wendy, Shane Staples and wife, Nancy, and Eric Staples and wife, Vanissa; many great-nieces and nephews. Marie was predeceased by a brother, Paul Staples Jr.
A mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 10 a.m. Saturday, September 24, 2016 from the Parish of the Precious Blood Holy Rosary Catholic Church. Following the mass, all are invited to a time of continued fellowship and refreshments in the parish hall.
