Coach Marc Weeks’ Caribou varsity golf team will have a final tune-up today before taking part in the Penobscot Valley Conference championships on Thursday.
The Vikings will take on Presque Isle at JaTo Highlands in Lincoln this afternoon, the same venue that will host the PVC competition the next day. Team and individual qualifiers for next month’s state championships will be determined.
Caribou has posted a 4-11 regular season record. On Thursday, the team made the trip to Hidden Meadows Country Club and took on Ellsworth and host Old Town. Connor Plourde shot a 48, while Bailey Griffeth had a 52, Gabe Rand a 54 and Noah Rosado a 55 to give the Vikings a score of 210. Old Town, undefeated at 19-0, won with a 143 and Ellsworth posted a 238.r
On Monday, the Vikings took on Houlton and Presque Isle at Presque Isle Country Club. Griffeth carded a 47 and Stewart Curtis a 50 to lead the way. Caribou’s total of 203 strokes placed the team third behind PI (188) and the Shires (190). Hunter Flynn of the Wildcats was the medalist with a 39.
