Stephen was born in Angola, Indiana on October 8, 1957 to Stephen and Roberta (Carey) O’Shaughnessy II. He attended Hudson High School in Hudson, MA. On September 2, 1979, he married his wife, Jessica Feeley at the Trinity Episcopal Church in Portland. They celebrated 37 wonderful years and had two children together, Patrick and Micaela O’Shaughnessy. In 1980, Stephen graduated from the University of Maine at Orono with a B.S. in Forestry (Wood Utilization). He was employed by Northeastern Lumber Manufacturers Association and by several wood products companies in NH and ME, most recently by Columbia Forest Products in Presque Isle.
Stephen was a member of the Boy Scouts of America, participating in both Troop 77 in Hudson, MA and Troop 58 in Campton, NH. He was an Eagle Scout and a Scout Master. He was a Youth Advisor, part of the Youth Ministry at St. Mary of the Visitation in Houlton and Holy Rosary in Caribou. He received a Matthew Award in 2005. Stephen was a lifelong Boston sports fan. As a third-generation Red Sox fan he truly enjoyed the fact that a boyhood dream was fulfilled when the Red Sox won the World Series in 2004. The most played clip on his YouTube feed was when the Patriots won the Super Bowl in February, 2002. “It’s gooooooooooooooood!” Jessica and Stephen opened their home and heart to several children over the years whom lovingly refer to them as their “other parents” or simply “Mom and Dad”. Stephen firmly believed that education was the key to achieving your goals. While his children were attending college he decided to resume his formal education. This effort culminated in 2008 when he received his B.A. Magna Cum Laude in Accounting from the University of Maine at Presque Isle. He worked as a Staff Accountant at DFAS in Limestone. Since 2008, Stephen has been active in the Crown of Maine Chapter of the American Society of Military Comptrollers (ASMC) as a member and treasurer. He was a fixture in the ASMC food booth every year during the summer fair season.
Stephen is survived by his wife, Jessica Feeley of Caribou, his son Patrick O’Shaughnessy and his wife, Kelly (Buckley) of Williamsburg, VA; his daughter, Micaela O’Shaughnessy and her husband Benjamin Fisher of Ashland, MA; his father Stephen O’Shaughnessy of York, ME; two brothers, Martin O’Shaughnessy of St. Augustine, Florida, and Matthew O’Shaughnessy of Hudson, MA; two nephews, Robert and Evan as well as many cousins.
