Guerrette receives SAM high rating

AUGUSTA, Maine — Timothy Guerrette, who is a candidate for Maine Senate District 1, has received an A+ rating from the Sportsman’s Alliance of Maine (SAM).

SAM is the state’s largest sportsmen’s organization with more than 10,000 members. According to SAM officials, in considering their ratings, the group took a number of factors into consideration, such as the candidates’ stance on issues such as trapping, controlling the deer population, use of public lands and other hunting-related issues.

“I look forward to representing the people of Aroostook County, and when I do, being a strong advocate for hunting and fishing rights,” Guerrette said. “It is very encouraging to have such a strong rating for this organization that does so much to promote sporting activities in Maine, as well as Second Amendment rights.

“I didn’t get the SAM endorsement because that always goes to the incumbent or those with prior legislative service,” continued Guerrette. “I’m not a lifelong politician, but I think the fact that I received the highest possible rating from SAM speaks volumes.”

Guerrette is a farmer and former firefighter and paramedic who lives in Caribou. Senate District 1 includes the municipalities and unorganized territories of Allagash, Ashland, Caribou, Castle Hill, Caswell, Connor Township, Cyr Plantation, Eagle Lake, Fort Kent, Frenchville, Garfield Plantation, Grand Isle, Hamlin, Limestone, Madawaska, Mapleton, Masardis, Nashville Plantation, New Canada, New Sweden, Northwest Aroostook Unorganized Territory, Oxbow Plantation, Perham, Portage Lake, Square Lake Unorganized Territory, St. Agatha, St. Francis, St. John Plantation, Stockholm, Van Buren, Wade, Wallagrass, Washburn, Westmanland, Winterville Plantation and Woodland.
