DOC station undergoing facelift

CARIBOU, Maine — Caribou’s Daigle Oil Company gas station will hold a grand opening on Oct. 27, 2016 and showcase a myriad of improvements at the Bennett Drive location.

A team of construction workers are currently putting together the finishing touches of the new facility, which will feature an improved car wash, an additional gasoline dispenser, a new canopy, fresh hot top pavement, and a relocation of two underground tanks.

At the renovated service station, customers will be able to use credit cards instead of tokens to wash their cars. The new washing station will have a fourth washing package and the bay’s height is being increased to seven feet, six inches to accommodate larger vehicles.

“This particular car wash is similar to the one we installed at the Fort Kent station,” said DOC Brand Manager Sonya Dechene LeBoeuf. “It’s nice because customers will no longer have to manage tokens.”

The relocation of underground tanks, according to LeBoeuf, will improve the flow of transport vehicle traffic, reducing any potential congestion that may occur while big trucks deposit fuel.

The final step is to give the island a fresh new look.

“The dispensers are going to be replaced and we’ll be adding an additional gasoline dispenser,” LeBoeuf said. “The facility will also have better lighting in compliance with Citgo guidelines.”

The new gas station will still provide full service in the form of attendants pumping gas, washing windshields, and checking oil for customers. They are also offering a $1 discount on car washes with every fill up.

Daigle Oil is offering several specials during the grand opening. Those who purchase a minimum of eight gallons of gas on Oct. 28 will receive a $5 Citgo gift card and free platinum wash if they make the purchase on Oct. 29. Additionally, the station will donate 10 cents out of every gallon sold between Oct. 27 and 29 to the Catholic Charities food bank.
