Police cite speed, alcohol in crash

PERHAM, Maine — Maine State Police believe speed and alcohol contributed to a crash Friday night, Nov. 11, that claimed the life of a Perham man.

Maine State Police Sgt. Jeffrey Clark wrote in a Saturday news release that 29-year-old Kyle Goding was traveling south on Route 228, also known as Perham Road, at approximately 11 p.m. Goding was driving at a high rate of speed when he failed to negotiate a turn, Clark said.

Trooper Nathan Desrosier responded to the scene.

According to the police report, Goding’s 2004 Chrysler Town and Country minivan left the northbound side of the road and then struck a culvert, causing the vehicle to become airborne and roll over several times. The impact ejected Goding from his minivan. Police say he was not wearing a seat belt.

He was pronounced dead at the scene, Clark said.

The incident remains under investigation. Caribou Fire and Ambulance assisted at the scene.
