FORT FAIRFIELD & CALAIS — Jacob Glenn Donovan, 30, passed away at 1:31 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 5, 2016. He was recuperating in the hospital from an unexpected surgery at Eastern Maine Medical Center in Bangor. Jacob began his life on March 17, 1986 with parents Robin and Randy B. Donovan of Fort Fairfield.

He attended the Fort Fairfield Schools, graduating from FFMS/HS in 2004. Jacob attended Washington County Community College and received Associates Degrees in Culinary and Baking 2006, and Business and Entrepreneurship 2008. He worked in the Calais Wal-Mart holding various positions until 2012. In September of 2013 he began at the Calais Tractor Supply Company Store in Receiving, and then from Assistant Manager to Store Manager. Jacob also became a member of the Calais Fire EMS and the Washington County Fire Fighters Association on Nov. 15, 2013.
Jacob went by nicknames of Jay and Little Jay, among family and friends. He was affectionately called Big Jay, by friends on the Calais Fire EMS and Department. Jay enjoyed cooking, baking, music, carpentry, fishing, the outdoors and especially “winter snow.” He had also participated in Boy Scouts and Church. Jay was a kind and gentle son, brother and friend. He was the sunshine in our lives and always ready to lend a hand or idea.
Jacob will be greatly missed by his family members as well as his second family of friends Ken and Karen Clark and children. Jay will also be missed by many friends made throughout Maine, and the Firefighters who worked alongside of him.
Jacob is predeceased by his paternal grandmother, Sylvia M. Donovan; paternal grandfather, Norman L. Donovan; maternal grandfather, Wilbur E. Wolf. Jacob G. Donovan is survived by his maternal grandmother Donna E. Wolf; parents, Robin W. and Randy B. Donovan; his sister, Katherine (Katy) T. Donovan; aunts and uncles, Patricia and Newell Martin, Ginny and Jimmy Walker, Christine and Airin Wolf, Phyllis and Timothy Wilkins; and cousins, Alexandra Turnbull, Olivia Wilkins, Neal Martin, Julie Snyder, Brian Allen, Pamela Allen, and Samuel Pankonien.
Friends called Friday, November 11, 2016 from 7 to 9 p.m. at the Giberson-Dorsey Funeral Home, 144 Main Street, Fort Fairfield. The funeral service was conducted Saturday, November 12, 2016 at 11 a.m. at the St. Paul’s Episcopal Church, 170 Main Street, Fort Fairfield with the Rev. Kevin Kinsey officiating. Interment followed at the Peers Cemetery, Caswell.
