Rotary offers tickets for fundraiser

CARIBOU — The 2016 Caribou Rotary Club Cash Draw is underway. There are two weeks left before the draw and 580 tickets have been sold.

Steve Mazerolle, the Caribou Rotary Club president-elect and chair of the cash draw this year, encouraged everyone to contact a Rotarian to purchase tickets or purchase online at www.caribourotary.org.

“No more than 1,000 tickets will be sold so the chance of winning is 1 in 20,” he said.

Tickets are $60 each or two or more $50 each. The purchase price includes admission for one to the drawing and dance following completion of the drawing, which will be held at the Caribou Inn & Convention Center on Saturday, Dec. 10, at 6:30pm.

Prizes this year are: first prize, $6,000; second prize, $5,000; and third prize, $4,000. There will be a $1,000 prize, a $500 prize, five $250 prizes and 40 $100 prizes.

This year’s early bird winner was Brent Jepson of Caribou.

This annual draw is the primary fundraiser for the Caribou Rotary Club. The funds benefit numerous community projects such as the ski building at Caribou High School, dugouts at the various Caribou Little League ball fields, playground equipment at Hilltop School, and most recently the purchase of a van for the Caribou Recreation Department.

Donations also enable the organization to continue its ongoing support of the Caribou Recreation Department, Caribou School Department, Caribou Little League, and donations of bicycle helmets for all third-graders in Caribou and the four surrounding communities.

Mazerolle said, “The Caribou Rotary Club’s motto, ‘Service Above Self,’ is a long tradition of the club. If you live in Caribou or the central Aroostook region, you probably know someone who has been touched by the Caribou Rotary Club, either by a project or a donation.”
