CARIBOU, Maine — A minor accident resulted in an operating while under the influence charge against a Fort Fairfield woman last week.
Officer Doug Bell arrested Fort Fairfield resident Chelsey Webb, 28, for OUI after she hit a guardrail on Limestone Street in Caribou on Nov. 30.
Officer Ricky Pelletier assisted Officer Bell after dispatch received the report at approximately 12:53 a.m. on Nov. 30. The officers learned that Webb was driving a 2011 Dodge passenger owned by a Cross Lake man, and noted that the vehicle, which had temporary plates, received extensive damage.
Webb was subsequently charged with trafficking in prison contraband and possession of schedule y drugs after attempting to smuggle prescription drugs into her jail cell, according to Caribou PD Administrative Assistant Laura Adams.
Webb was able to make $500 unsecured bail and is scheduled to appear in court on Jan. 5, 2017.
Additionally, Adams added that Caribou PD had seven reportable accidents due to treacherous roads from Nov. 29 to Dec. 1, and that a dozen vehicles were reported as off the road, but some of those were gone by the time officers responded.
