CARIBOU —Richard R. Ouillette, 90 passed away December 14, 2016 at Caribou.
He was born in Caribou October 27, 1926, the son of the late Arthur J. and Leona (Desjardins) Ouillette. He was a graduate of Caribou High School in 1944, joined the Army Air Corps shortly after graduation, and was later transferred to the US Air Force, serving in Germany during WW II. After his discharge from the military, he owned and operated the Army Navy store in Caribou for several years. He then worked for Maine Public Service for 33 years as a generation operator until his retirement in 1988. Mr. Ouillette was a life member of the Lister-Knowlton Post 9389 VFW, where he held numerous positions, including Post Commander in 1999-2000. After his retirement, Richard became a dedicated volunteer at Cary Medical Center for many years. He was also a driver for the RSVP program. Richard married Theresa Marquis November 27, 1950 and they raised seven children together. He was a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather, and he loved his family dearly. The joy of his retirement was being able to travel with Theresa and visit their children, near and far.
Surviving in addition to his wife of over 66 years, Theresa of Caribou are his three sons, Mark and wife Gwen of Pittsfield, MA, Robert and wife Judy of Tucson, AZ, and Shawn and wife Julie of Pittsfield, MA, his three daughters, Gail Langley and husband Jon of Caribou, Sharon Wall of Casco and Michelle Mistler and husband Paul of Sca-rborough; a daughter-in-law Rita Ouillette of Holiday, FL., ten grandchildren, Jeff and Brent Langley, Tim and Monique Ouillette, Christopher and Danielle Ouillette, Casey and Lily Ouillette, Hannah and Luke Mistler, five great- granddaughters, Amelia Langley, Sadie Ouillette, Anne and Jane Welch and Evangeline Ouillette, five great-grandsons: Dalton and Samuel Langley, Elijah and Matthew Welch and Hunter Ouillette. Five sisters, Kathleen Karr of Lancaster, PA, Ruth Vermette of Skowhegan, Greta Cianchette of Detroit, Mona MacBain of Clinton, CT and Sheila Jacobson of Raymond. One brother Reginald Ouillette of Caribou. Mr. Ouillette was predeceased by his son Glen, a sister Joyce Theriault, a brother Rev. Arthur Ouillette and a granddaughter Katie Ouillete.
Friends called at the Mockler Funeral Home 24 Reservoir Street Caribou 6-8 p.m. Sunday. A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated 11 a.m. Monday, December 19, 2016 from the Parish of the Precious Blood Holy Rosary Catholic Church. Interment will be in the Old Holy Rosary Cemetery.
