CARIBOU, Maine — Two central Aroostook men have been arrested and charged with multiple crimes in connection with a stabbing here on Friday, according to local police.

An 18-year-old man walked into the police station at around 8:30 p.m. Friday to report that he had been stabbed multiple times and needed medical attention, Caribou Police Chief Michael Gahagan said in a written statement Monday evening.

The victim was transported by ambulance to Cary Medical Center, where he was treated and released, the chief reported.

The teen told police that two men came to his residence on Washington Street and that the altercation took place after he met them outside.

Officers later charged Andrew Torres, 21, of Caribou with aggravated assault, criminal threatening and violation of conditions of release. His bail was set at $50,000 cash or $50,000 double surety.

Craig Vrieze, 19, was charged with aggravated assault. His bail was set at $1,000 cash or $5,000 surety.

Both Torres and Vrieze failed to make bail and were taken to the Aroostook County Jail in Houlton. Both are scheduled to appear in court on Jan. 5, according to Gahagan.

Primary investigating officers are Officer Daniel Ballanger and Officer Kevin St. Peter.
