Legislative update

To the editor:

I recently had the honor of being sworn in as the senator for Maine’s District 1. While I have been here before, it’s still a great feeling to be back in the Senate chamber, greeting my old friends and meeting some new ones.

My job as Democratic leader is to focus on Maine’s hard workers, small business owners and families who are concerned that they are being left behind. I am here, simply, because I believe the best and most effective way to serve the people of Maine is to keep your legislature focused on your concerns.

It is no secret that our country is deeply divided along political lines. Unfortunately, Maine has been trending that way, too. My hope for the 128th Legislature is to reinforce that we are all Mainers, from Portland to The County to Down East.

The ideas and initiatives that the Democrats will promote will focus on improving the quality of life for all Mainers, everywhere in the state. We will fight for fairness for the working class, compassion for those less fortunate and a sensible budget that reflects the needs of the people.

Please remember that I can’t do my job without hearing from you on a regular basis. Your concerns are critically important to me, so don’t hesitate to call my office at (207) 287-1515 or email me at senatorjackson1@gmail.com.

I look forward to hearing from you and serving you in the Senate.

Sen. Troy Jackson
