Council holds annual organizational meeting

 CARIBOU, Maine — While City Council’s first session of the year was brief, they covered a wide variety of items during their Jan. 3 organizational meeting.

All city council positions will remain the same as last year, with Gary Aiken as mayor and David Martin as deputy mayor. 2016 councilors Shane McDougall, Joan Theriault, Phil McDonough II, Jody Smith and Tim Guerrette will continue in their positions throughout the new year.

Council also approved a variety of administrative city officers, which include Wanda Raymond as city treasurer and tax collector, Jayne Farrin as city clerk, general assistance administrator, and registrar of voters, Felch & Company as city auditor, Kalen Hill as deputy general assistance administrator, deputy registrar of voters, and deputy city clerk, Scott Susi as public health officer, and Holli Doody as deputy city treasurer.

Caribou councilors also appointed officers for several city boards, including the Cary Medical Center Directors, the Hospital District, the Nylander Board of Trustees, the Registration Board of Appeals, the Library Board, the Caribou Utilities District, the Capital Improvement Board, the Tri-Community Landfill board, the Planning Board, the Board of Assessors, and the Recreation Commission.

 

Future meeting dates were also determined, with the next two landing on Jan. 9 and 29 at 6 p.m. in the council chambers on 25 High Street in Caribou.
