LIMESTONE — Hope Obar, 94, died peacefully January 12, 2017 at the Caribou Rehab and Nursing Home after a long illness.

She was born May 21, 1922 in Limestone, the daughter of Fred and Alice (LaBrecque) Michaud. She was a lifetime resident of Limestone. Hope was a faith filled wife, and a loving mother. She was a devoted member of St. Louis Catholic Church her entire life. She enjoyed gardening, especially her flowers, quilting, knitting, crocheting and she was an excellent cook. Hope had worked at St. Louis Rectory as a housekeeper for more than 20 years.
She was predeceased in death by her husband Joseph Obar, and her siblings Leo Michaud, Mary Beaulieu, Elizabeth Obar, Leona Obar, Susan LaBrecque, and Alfoncie Johndro. She is survived by her son Raymond Obar and his wife Carla of White River Jct., VT and her daughter Cecilia Hoffman and her husband Jim of Leonardtown, MD; four grandsons: Joshua Obar and his wife Heather, Jacob Obar and his wife Lindsay, all of White River Jct., VT, Anthony Hoffman and his wife Jenn of Granger, IN and Matthew Hoffman of Ft. Leaven-worth, KS and his fiancée Amanda Snedegar of Lewisburg, West Virginia; four great-grandchildren; Isaac, Ethan and Moriah Obar and Daniel Hoffman;several nieces and nephews.
Relatives and friends may call 6-8 p.m., Wednesday, January 18, 2017 at Lancaster Morgan Funeral Home, 11 Clover Street Caribou. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated 11 a.m., Thursday at St. Louis Catholic Church, Parish of the Precious Blood, Limestone with the Very Rev. Jean Paul LaBrie Celebrant.
