The Sixth Annual Crown of Maine Balloon Fest kicks off Aug. 27

    THE SIXTH ANNUAL Crown of Maine Balloon Fest, presented by KeyBank and hosted by the Presque Isle Area Chamber of Commerce, officially kicks off Thursday, Aug. 27 and will continue through Sunday, Aug. 30 at the Northern Maine Fairgrounds in Presque Isle. Twelve hot air balloons are expected to participate in the event. A few pilots have already arrived in the Star City and have filled the sky with their colorful balloons including this one, piloted by Wendell Purvis of Tallahassee, Fla. Purvis flew Monday evening and landed at Fairmount Cemetery on the Houlton Road.
