The Houlton Council of Catholic Women met Feb 6, with 12 members and Father Dave present. Our hymn and opening prayers were recited. Dessert was provided by the February committee.
The group packed Valentine bags for shut ins. Various members will deliver them. Kathy Klein read the secretary’s report and Mary Grant, treasurer, gave the treasurer’s report. Alta Reardon, corresponding secretary, read several thank you notes.
The by-laws committee handed out copies of the new bylaws to be read by members and discussed at our next meeting. Volunteers are needed for the upcoming St. Patrick’s Bazaar, which will be held on March 18th.
The April meeting for Maine Diocesan Council of Catholic Women will be held in Pittsfield on April 22, 2017 and some members are interested in attending. The annual banquet was discussed and members voted to have it at the Parish Center.
At the next meeting, the group will form an election committee for new officers for the upcoming year.
Father Dave gave a brief report of Parish Council news. The Rosary will be said at Gardiner’s Feb. 17. Mary Grant won the door prize.
Those who had birthdays and anniversaries for February were recognized. Seminarian basket was passed. Prayer intentions were gathered and members recited five Hail Marys.
