CARIBOU, Maine — One of the most popular performers in the nearly 30-year history of the Caribou Performing Arts Center returns on Tuesday, March 7, at 7:00 pm. Cape Breton fiddler Natalie MacMaster, along with her husband Donnell Leahy, the former acclaimed leader of the Celtic family group Leahy, will make their first appearance at CPAC since 2007.
MacMaster received her first fiddle at the age of 9, launching a career that has lasted for over 30 years. She is known for her stage presence, elegance with the bow, intricate technique and the embrace of the Cape Breton tradition.
Leahy has literally spent his entire life with a fiddle in his hand, perfecting his talent since the age of three. As the former musical leader and frontman of Leahy for over 15 years, his own style emerged; it is said he created a new genre of music simply known as “Leahy.” Combined with his high-energy performances, this style has become Donnell Leahy’s musical signature.
Since marrying in 2002, MacMaster and Leahy have been captivating audiences all over North America with their musical skills and obvious joy at playing the fiddle together. They have received both industry acclaim and a loyal fan base by combining their individual talents, giving audiences an unforgettable musical experience.
