LUDLOW, Maine — A 41-year-old Bangor man was arrested Sunday evening after rolling over his vehicle on Interstate 95.
Jason Rossignol of Bangor was driving a 2000 Toyota Camry south on Interstate 95 at 6:47 p.m. Sunday when he lost control of his vehicle and struck a snowbank on the left-hand side of the road, causing the vehicle to flip onto its side.
The Maine State Police Troop F barracks in Houlton were already on route to locate the vehicle, as they had received a report of a car operating in an erratic manner on the highway. Trooper Kilcollins located the vehicle and spoke to Rossignol, who told the trooper he was tired and lost control of his car, according to Sgt. Jeffrey Clark.
Sgt. Clark said Trooper Kilcollins suspected Rossignol was impaired and brought him to the Aroostook County Jail to perform Field Sobriety Testing due to the extremely cold temperatures that evening.
Rossignol failed the test but did not show impairment by liquor. Tr. Saucier, who is trained as a Drug Recognition Expert, responded and determined that Rossignol was operating under the influence of drugs.
He was arrested and charged with OUI/drugs and transported to the Aroostook County Jail. Rossignol sustained minor injuries in the crash.
Speed was not a factor in the crash and the driver was wearing his seatbelt, Sgt. Clark said.
