LAKE PLACID, New York — Abigail Streinz of Hersey finished seventh in the nation in the individual 5km skate race at the 2017 Junior National Championships held March 4-11 in Lake Placid, New York.
Streinz skied a strong final leg to anchor her relay team to a second-place finish. Both of these results were good enough to earn her All-American status.
Streinz capped off a great season of skiing by becoming an All-American at her very first Junior National championships. Her results contributed in helping the New England region to win its fourth Alaska Cup in a row, which also makes for 11 of the last 14 years that New England has done so.
Streinz has become one of the strongest skiers in New England, and after this week she has made a strong case that she has also become one of the better skiers for her age division in the nation.
