March is town meeting time and there are a number of local municipalities getting ready to gather.
On Monday, March 27, New Limerick will hold its town meeting. Voting takes place from 2-6 p.m. with the meeting following at 7 p.m. Tana McNutt is running unopposed for re-election to the board of selectmen, while Curtis Harrison and Jared Hand are running as write-in candidates for the SAD 70 school board.
Also on Monday, March, 27, Monticello residents will gather for their town meeting at 7 p.m. at the fire station. Voting at the polls will take place from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Two seats are available on the town’s board of selectmen, with five individuals seeking them. Incumbents Jimmy Burpee and Terry Wade are joined by Maxwell Good, Joshua Harvey and David Wallingford in seeking representation on the town board.
Interest in serving on the RSU 29 school board, however, is nil as there are no candidates for a three-year seat. The town has two seats on the school board. Jennifer Johnston is the town’s other representative. P.J. Harvey was appointed to the board last year to fill a vacancy, but opted not to seek re-election.
Monticello voters will also be asked to approve a $610,623 municipal budget, which is an increase of only $1,210 from last year.
