City plans fireworks on July 3

Flowers Planted at Peace Pole – On May 27, second graders from Houlton Elementary School planted marigolds around the Peace Pole in Monument Park. Each child grew one plant from seed in the greenhouse at the school.

To celebrate pollinator month this June, we wanted to focus on what we can do to support pollinator health in our own backyards. While the poster children of pollinators, butterflies and bees, will appreciate it, so will the many other pollinators, including wasps, flies and bats.

Kids raise record amount for heart health

Eva Hoyt Zippel Elementary School held an assembly on June 6 to celebrate Kids Heart Challenge, during which students raised more than $17,000 for the American Heart Association.
