Employees honored during recognition event

The University of Maine at Presque Isle honored several employees for their years of service during the Employee Recognition event on May 7. This year’s event recognized employees who marked a milestone anniversary in 2024. Twenty-four employees were recognized for their combined 285 years of service to the University.

Over $1,800 Is Realized By Ricker Walk-A-Thon — Over $1,800 was realized from the Walk-A-Thon sponsored Saturday by the Ricker College Student Senate. One-quarter of the proceeds, before expenses, will go to the Houlton Recreation Department, with the balance going to the college.

Officials for the City of Presque Isle are pleased to announce that they have been awarded a safety grant by the Maine Municipal Association Workers Compensation Fund in the amount of $2,545.

Nordic Heritage Outdoor Center finds new financial support

Now under the management of the Presque Isle Recreation & Parks Department, Nordic Heritage Outdoor Center has experienced promising growth in terms of community support and utilization of the facility. Significant sponsorships, provided by generous Aroostook County organizations, now provided about 75 percent of the Center’s operating budget, which is not subsidized by the City of Presque Isle.

Museum to feature Esther Faulkner display

A new display has been in the  works to feature the art of the late Esther Orr Faulkner at the Southern Aroostook Agricultural Museum in Littleton. Guests will be able to view several pieces of the Faulkner Collection at the museum turkey supper on May 18 from 4:30 to 6 p.m.
