Limestone Community School staying red until Jan. 4

Citing daily spikes in Aroostook County COVID-19 cases, Limestone Community School Principal Ben Lothrop announced via the school’s social media page that the school would remain in the red or remote learning model until Jan. 4.

Caribou Public Library continuing to serve community through pandemic

The Caribou Public Library has been open since July, with strict social distancing guidelines in place. The facility serves the public not only in person, but also by offering curbside pickup and activities such as reading time that are recorded and uploaded to the facility’s new YouTube channel.

Limestone Development Foundation and Limestone Chamber of Commerce are merging

The Limestone Chamber of Commerce and Limestone Development Foundation recently held a joint-meeting on Nov. 19 in which a small number of guests convened at the Loring Bunker Inn and others attended via Zoom. The organizations announced their plan to merge, elected officials and board members and discussed projects and businesses within the town.

New Teague Park now in the city’s hands

The new Teague Park facility is now in the city of Caribou’s hands after the City Council accepted a quit claim deed on behalf of the school administration during a Nov. 16 meeting. The park was relocated across the street from its former Bennett Drive location as part of the $54 million Caribou Community School project.
