Early morning fire displaces one

PRESQUE ISLE, Maine — The sole occupant of an apartment building escaped an early morning fire Sunday that significantly damaged the structure on Centerline Road.

The individual got out and called 911 at about 3 a.m. after a smoke detector went off, Capt. Vince Baldwin of the Presque Isle Fire Department said in press release issued Monday.

Katahdin Cedar Log Homes damaged by Thursday fire

 

OAKFIELD, Maine — Katahdin Cedar Log Homes is recovering from a fire on Thursday evening that did significant damage to the facility.

David Gordon, president and CEO of Katahdin Forest Products, said Monday that the fire involved one of the manufacturing facility’s boilers and likely started on top of the fuel bin, which he said was “extremely unusual.”
