Hat buying trip — Miss Evelyn Fisher made a business trip to Boston Wednesday night and will return Friday morning. While there she will select a new lot of hats which will arrive at her store Saturday, Oct. 19.

Under new management — The local business of the American Express Company, which has been under the charge of its regular agent, H.D. Collins, since the advent of the B. & A. into Caribou, is now under the charge of Mr. Hazleton of Dexter, a representative of the company.

Resigns and accepts new position — Miss Lizzie Lavoie, who has been employed in A.V. Goud & Co.’s dry goods store, has resigned and accepted a position in the office of the Caribou Water, Light & Power Co.

Returning from New York — Mrs. M. Frances Shaw will return this week from New York and Boston, where she has been to attend the openings of the leading hat shops. Mrs. Shaw, being unable to meet the demand of the public herself, will bring with her MIss Minnie Norton, who comes highly recommended, as a trimmer.

Accepted position — Paul Benton, who has been speaking a part of his vacation at his home in New Hampshire, has returned and accepted a position in C.T. Bishop’s shoe shore.

New job — Miss Henrietta West, recently employed in the office of the Caribou Water, Light & Power Company, has accepted a position in the law office of Chas. G. Briggs, Esq., and entered upon her duties Monday morning.

Telephone injuries — Some time ago the telephone was installed in nearly every farmhouse. Since then the women have used the phones by the hour, standing in a position which throws their heads to the left side.

On his way to New York — J.B. Halgren of New Sweden started Monday for New York on a business trip. Before coming home he will make a visit in Connecticut; he will also visit in Newport, Rhode Island, the Swedish armored cruiser Fylgia, which brought Prince Wilhelm, grandson of King Oscar, to this country.
