HOULTON — The Maine State Police Troop F barracks in Houlton responded to 135 calls for service during the week of Dec. 19-Dec. 25.

Tr. Stoutamyer met with an elderly male subject from Chapman who fell victim to a popular scam where male received a phone call from someone pretending to by his nephew and needed bail money of $3,000 to get out of jail.

Blackhawks beat Brewer to stay perfect

BREWER, Maine — The winning beat goes on for the Houlton-Hodgdon-Southern Aroostook-Katahdin hockey team on the ice this season.

The Blackhawks knocked off Brewer 2-1 Dec. 23, marking the first time in years that the squad has bested the Witches in hockey.

Most and all clubs are reporting very good conditions with most trails have been signed.

With this first week of potentially a very busy one with school vacation our trails can be very busy so please remember that there may be some low hanging branches, some water holes so please ride with caution.

Remember, the “County” is home to some of Maine’s best restaurants, they are ready to accommodate the snowmobiling community so come on up as the region is open for business.

The men’s league at Birch Point Lanes resumed bowling action Monday, Dec. 12, 2016. The top six teams are: 1, Intimidators, 56-8; 2, Rough Riders, 36-28; 3, Strike Force, 31-33; Gutterballs, 26-38; 5, Skinner Sandbaggers, 22-42; and 6, Pinners, 21-43.
