York’s of Houlton Atoms played a good game Saturday against Woodstock 2, but lost 7-0. The next game will be in Houlton against Woodstock 1, Dec. 31 at 9:15 a.m.
The Aroostook Auto Tech Peewees traveled to Perth Andover Saturday to meet up with Victoria-Tobique for an early morning matchup. Despite many efforts by the SAMHA Peewees, they were no match for the strong goalie from Victoria-Tobique.

Wow, what a week and a half this has been for all projects from Island Falls to the Allagash and everyone in between.
The County clubs have certainly been busy clearing all the trees that have fallen from some of the heaviest snow that has ever come down. A lot of the clubs are reporting very good progress, while there are some that will need another week of cutting before their sections are at 100 percent. So please use caution when out riding as not every club has had a chance to put up signage — they were dealing with getting the trails opened to allow groomers to get through.
HOULTON, Maine — The Houlton Recreation Department will be offering the following programs:
Zumba Class — A new session of Zumba will begin on Tuesday, Jan. 3 at the Houlton Recreation Department. This 8-week program will run on Tuesdays and Thursdays at 6 p.m. The instructor for this class is Rachel DiStefano. The cost is $45 for Houlton residents and $65 for non-Houlton residents. To register, call 532-1310 by Dec. 30. Space is limited to 20 participants.
PRESQUE ISLE, Maine — Winter activity enthusiasts have been given their own special gift this year with the recent snowfall amounts. More good news is afoot with Presque Isle’s Quoggy Jo Ski Center opening for the season on Monday, Dec. 26.
“We’re really excited to kick the season off with a bang,” said Gene Cronin, president of Quoggy Jo Ski Club. “This particular location on the Fort Road in Presque Isle has been offering an affordable outlet for both big and small ski enthusiasts since 1957 and we’re hoping for another great year.”

AUGUSTA, Maine — A new year of hunting and fishing opportunity in Maine is just around the corner, and the Maine Department of Inland Fisheries and Wildlife has announced the 2017 hunting and fishing licenses are now available for purchase online or at any of the more than 800 licensing agents statewide.
The state offers a wide range of hunting and fishing opportunities. Maine is nearly as large as all the other New England states combined, with over 17 million acres of forested land, 6,000 lakes and ponds and 32,000 miles of rivers and streams.
